Odisha's historic Coast Canal, spanning 147.2 km and linking the Matai River to the Hooghly River, is set for restoration after decades of neglect. Originally built between 1880-1881 , the canal was crucial for trade and irrigation but suffered from silt accumulation, affecting 500 acres of farmland. The revival aims to enhance regional connectivity, boost local agriculture, trade, and tourism, benefiting communities in Odisha and West Bengal.
